Bark beetle workshop with Scottish foresters

Recently, Tomáš Hlásny from the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague and Marcus Lindner from the European Forest Institute addressed nearly 200 Scottish foresters, sharing their insights on forest disturbance management and climate change adaptation, particularly concerning bark beetle outbreaks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GshE72WmxM

The event was held in response to the recent detection of the spruce bark beetle Ips typographus in the UK, sparking concern among both foresters and policymakers—especially since I. typographus is not native to the UK. Following their presentations, Max Blake, a UK expert on forest health and entomology, discussed key findings on bark beetle introductions and the potential risks posed to UK forestry.
