The Forest Invasion Synthesis Centre Prague (FISC) at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences of the Czech University of Life Sciences (CZU) is built on regular interaction and strong collaboration between Czech and international scientists. The frequent presence of top researchers from around the world is one of FISC’s key contributions to CZU. It significantly enhances the university’s potential to succeed in cutting-edge research.
"Europe is making strategic efforts to strengthen its scientific capacity and attract top researchers from abroad. The arrival of Dr. Liebhold at CZU confirms that our efforts are paying off," says Professor Tomáš Hlásny, Head of the Department of Forest Risk Research. He adds: "In the coming years, FISC will host dozens of experts from various countries and fields. We are creating unique opportunities for international collaboration in which CZU researchers and students can participate."
FISC has attracted the attention of the European Commission, which featured the centre in its “Choose Europe” campaign. The work of FISC and the reasons why an American scientist decided to relocate to CZU were also highlighted in Monocle magazine. The establishment of the centre, supported by European Union funding, has also been covered by several Czech media outlets.
